Miniature Monday: Beach Hut
Today I'm sharing my 1/12th scale Beach Hut. The original instructions for the structure were in the Miniature Collector Magazine. This version is slightly modified. The base was configured in such a way that I was able to create the illusion of a beach with paint, craft sand and resin.
Since this was a club project, everyone pitched in to teach a different mini. We also had a gift exchange and I made 30 of those outdoor showers for everyone in the club.
The palm trees were surprisingly easy to make and I think they look amazing!
I had this beach bum in my collection. He really knows how to soak in the sun! The small boogie boards were created by my young son who wanted to contribute. I purchased and made way too many things for this project, and the fish cart didn't make it in because it was too big. I love the details the artist put into it though and wanted to share it with you guys.
The back wall is actually removable as one unit. I made it with mat board, wood strips and thin sheet metal.
Please do let me know if you have any questions!! Thanks for stopping by.

Miniature Monday: Baby Love
I purchased these adorable twin newborns on eBay. They are so tiny and nicely made. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! They are currently on display through June, along with 20 others dolls from my collection, at St. Margaret's House, a Senior Citizen center in Manhattan.

Miniature Monday: Whatta Doll Studios - Original Sculptures
Many of the talented artists I feature do not have blogs or websites. I get to see them at shows and happily purchase their work. I'm especially excited when it's someone new to meet and get to know. I hope, if you're interested in any of their work, you reach out and let them know. Perhaps we will inspire some to post their art themselves!
These lovelies are one of a kind originals by Karen Robertson of Whatta Doll Studio. I'll list her contact information below. I fell in love with her character dolls and would like to share a few with you today.
The Bishop: I love the wrinkles in his face and hands.

The Tavern Wench: I really appreciate how thick and sturdy she looks. I enjoy a doll who does not have dainty hands and feet! |

Miniature Monday: Rain Gear
I hope you are enjoying May so far!

The rain gear is from Sylvia Rountree of the Doll's Cobbler. She is an IGMA fellow and you can find her website HERE. The coat, boots and hat are so well made, I had to buy the set!
My little model is hand sculpted by Bonnie Justice. Her Ebay store is Mini_dolls and can be found HERE. Her blog is bonniejustice.blogspot.com
Her dolls are adorable and well priced. They have also held up well to the tiny fingers visiting my house who insist on holding my little dolls.

Miniature Monday: Doll in her Trunk
In the mid 90's I often attended the International Guild of Miniature Artisans' (IGMA.org) annual show in New York City. Since it was so convenient for me, just a quick subway ride, I signed up for many workshops.
This little beauty was created at one of those workshops. We made the trunk out of leather with a paper lining. We dressed and wigged the doll, made the clothes and accessories. The tiny doll is only 1 1/2 inches tall. It was a lot of fun. I wish my record keeping was a little better back then because I can't remember the artist who taught the workshop.

Miniature Monday: Babies and Wicker
The moses basket was hand woven by my friend and wicker expert Marilyn Crockett. Marilyn often teaches at the shows she attends. The afghan was made by Gladys.
Both babies are made by Alicia Singleton, AllieBeanDolls. I love her babies and won't even tell you how many I have, but it's a LOT! The details are amazing, and their little chubby arms and legs move. Check her out:

Miniature Monday: Purchases from Karen Aird's Show

Loretta Kasza created this lovely lady. Her dress and face are beautiful. I also love the nice work on her fingers, the porcelain is so clean. |

Bespaq - I also purchased 2 matching chairs and coffee table. This set is so incredibly dainty in person. |

I've been trying to limit my purchases to actual projects I will use the item in, but have to admit I couldn't resist this set. |

I purchased a few of these to use as fillers in my antique shop. |

Miniature Monday - Wooden Vase Shop
This shop is 1/12th scale and measures 12"wide by 11"high by 9" deep. All of the tiny vases are hand turned out of a variety of wood. I purchase them everywhere I go.
The beautiful doll is made by IGMA Artist Gisele Hanson. The lovely painting in the background was hand done (with itty bitty brushes and acrylic paint) by my friend Heidi Gordon.
YES, that cat has fur! His name is Fred, and he's the store's guard cat. He was sculpted and painted by Linda, an amazing miniature artist that I purchase from on EBAY. Check her out - her seller's ID is linda060060. I wove those baskets with waxed linen thread and stained them walnut.
The potted plant on the shelf was a purchase from Grapevine Miniatures.

Miniature Monday - Two's Company Dolls
Last Fall I happened upon a wonderful Mother/ Daughter team of doll artists; Jennifer and Elizabeth Yankowski. Their official name is Two's Company and you can find their blog here.
Their attention to detail is incredible. Tiny folds, tiny accessories, I fell in love.
The way the dolls are dressed and posed tell a story:
The boy is wearing leather boots that are laced up perfectly. He came with the rooster and the handmade cage.
These two ladies have snuck out for a drink:
Though sold separately, I couldn't resist pairing them. The smiling maid came with her own bottle and a beautifully made duster. The other so good as the "lookout".
